When my buddy Richard exclaimed that his favorite game of all time on the PS1 was Final Fantasy VII, it got me thinking of what I considered was my all-time faves for each of my consoles. Heck, even though the C64 was technically a computer, I still included them here. Also, I included my current faves for my current consoles. Only criteria I chose was that it was a game I actually finished! (So even though Final Fantasy X is a great game, it can’t be considered as a fave yet since I haven’t finished it.)
Anyway, most of the games I picked are very popular, so if you have any old consoles (or the previous gens) still working, check these titles out:
Atari Computer: M.U.L.E. - the best EDUCATIONAL game I’ve ever played.
Taught me about supply and demand. And the fact that moms plays games
too. =) Yeah, Mom used to play this with us. She sometimes won. hehe (She killed us on Frogger though.)
I read that M.U.L.E. was goin to be remade for the internet, but the creator died before she finished the program.
Honorable mention: Frogger

C64 - Hardball - This was the game that got my brother Jerome and I hooked on America’s pasttime. Before this game, we used to just play basketball. After getting hooked on Hardball, we actually got to the baseball field to hit! (we weren’t good at the beginning, but we got the hang of it.) Jerome and I still speak of Hardball with reverence.(even
though its graphics is SO outdated now.)
Trivia: The game is immortalized in the movie classic, "Princess Bride."
Honorable mention: Archon, Super Zaxxon

Amiga Computer - It
has to be Superstar Ice Hockey. Jerome
and I played this game as teammates, him the high-scoring center and me as the highest scored-upon goalie. We played numerous seasons before we finally won the Stanley Cup. We
stared at that damn trophy for minutes.

Amiga Computer - I HAVE to add Secrets of Monkey Island as one of my faves. Even though the recent one for the PS2 wasn’t as good, the first few titles of this series was what got me hooked to point-and-click games. It was grand game with very difficult puzzles, splashed with lots of humor. Very entertaining indeed.
Honorable mention: TV Sports Football

PlayStation1 - Toss up between
Resident Evil 2 and Metal Gear Solid, but I’ll lean more on Metal Gear
Solid. Why? It was the game that made me buy the Analog controller with
the rumble feature that Sony said you needed for Metal Gear! And yes,
they were right! (Which is why it’s weird that the PS3 doesn’t have
rumble anymore. Lame.) Also, the game is like a suspense/action movie that Vin Diesel can only dream of making. hehe The PS2 sequel was lame though.
Honorable mention: Tekken 3, Resident Evil1.

Dreamcast
- Soul Calibur. Still one of the best-looking and best time to be had on
the Dreamcast. It was visually stunning with its weapons’ trails and great motion-captures. Plus, it was easy to pick up and go one on one with friends. It was hard to believe this was a launch game.
Honorable mention: Resident Evil Veronica, Rayman, NFL2K.

PS2 - Fave of all time, for now, Silent
Hill 3. The graphics and music scared Carie and me when I played it
here. Very disturbing game. (well, when I finished it here in PI..couldn’t finish it in US playing alone…got
scared.) haha Still, it was worth finishing the game, even though it still caused some nightmares. hehe I wonder if the movie is any good?
Honorable mention: Tekken Tag, NHL 2002

Gamecube - Resident Evil Zero. Dang. The graphics
they had for this game me forget that I was playing the "inferior"
console. Heck, even when the cutscenes ended, I was still standing
around waiting for more; in fact, it was my turn already! hehe Even though Resident Evil 4 will probably replace this game as my all-time fave for the Gamecube, trust me, it kicks arse, I can’t list it because I haven’t finished it yet.
(same with Zelda;Windwaker) hehe
Honorable mention: Legend of Zelda, Windwaker.

Xbox: Dang it. I can’t list one
favorite because I’ve played so many good games on this favorite
console of mine. Yes, it’s my favorite; sue me. But, it was the only
console that had in-game Dolby surround and true HD graphics; not the
fake Dolby surround for PS2 and pro-logic for Gamecube. But, the game
that had the most impact on me for Xbox, and why I didn’t sell it when
I first got it, has to take the honor of being the best. Yup, you
guessed it: HALO. Even with the huge controllers of Xbox past, the the game was a joy to play. This game is the reason why one should own an Xbox.
Honorable mention: Brothers in Arms, Black, Halo 2, MVP Baseball 2005, Madden 06, Beyond Good and Evil
There you have it. My current list of all-time faves. I just know I’ll have changes to this list in the future.
I’ll probably do an all-time faves list of PC games soon.
