Wala lang

Or in Engrish: “Nothing.”

I have nothing to report. Well, nothing is too extreme. I do have something to report. I’m just lazy to do it. Was in an all-day sales meeting, with steel chairs, and yes, my back/butt does hurt. You’d think by me being fat it’d given me cushion, but nope, still hurt me fat arse. lol

Playing Drake:Uncharted right now with Carie. Great adventure game for the PS3. Yeah, sony product. I’ve gone over to the dark side. But, you know that Sony is last now, so they’re the underdogs. So even though it pains me to have to say this, but the ugly PS3 is a cool machine. Plays Blu-Ray too. Damn you Sony. I can’t go back to watching regular DVDs now. And if anyone says there’s no difference between blu-ray and DVDs, they are either smoking something, doesn’t have hidef, or blind. (I was about to say ’stupid’ too…wait, I just did.) Blu-ray rules. Heck, even Transporter 2 was ok to watch. (Prom Night, not even blu-ray can save that awful movie.)

OK, so who is still passing by Naval and seeing my East 237 studio sign? *Sigh* I wish that could’ve been successful. Oh well, at least I tried it, diba? :)

Hay naku, ‘wala lang.’

Upon Further Reviews…

Know what? I do
write in my blog! This is proof. hehe Bullcrap I know. But, hey, it’s something.
Now, what to write…ok, how about this:

Call of Duty 4
(360)
Cod4thumb001_1

Dude. This is a
great game. Offline or online, this game rules! Just the graphics alone will
blow you away. (no pun intended) It seems like Infinity Ward actually dropped
you in a warzone. Everything seems authentic; heck, even the story seems
plausible. If you’re a fan of 24, you probably will appreciate the fast-paced
action of this game. I think my wife and I have wasted 5 days worth of time on
this game alone. haha Sheesh, if you buy it just for the online part of this
game, you can’t lose. Tons of unlockables for successfully achieving tasks makes
this game so addicting.

BioShock
(360)
Bioshock_1

Dude. This is a
great game. Offline only. This is more story-driven, but still has tons of
action scenes. You have to do a lot of listening to audio recordings, to get the
real story of what happened in Arcadia, but it is well done. Plus, going against
a BIG DADDY must be one of the most exciting, unnerving, piss-in-your-pants
experience in gaming. You see, this creature protects the little sisters, which
collect Adams from dead bodies…I lost you huh? Anyway, it IS a great game. It
even won Game of The Year awards, so it’s not just me sayin it. (But you trust my reviews too, right?) By the way, this is a game that’s similar to Resident Evil, so people with heart problems should not play this. (Don’t say I didn’t warn you.)

Driver: Parallel
Lines (Wii)
Driver
Dude. I don’t like
this game. It seems like a GTA3 clone. (Check the image to the right if you don’t believe me. Jeez Louis.) Almost the same engine too. Plus, when
using the Wii controllers, it’s just so difficult to control the driving part. I
only played a few minutes of this game and I gave up
already. Either I get a steering wheel for the Wii or not play this game. Hmm..what should I do? hehe

Perfect Dark Zero
(360)
Perfectdark
Dude. I don’t like
this game either. I dunno, after playing Halo 3, this game doesn’t seem special.
It also makes me dizzy. hehe Too much movement, I guess. Anyway, I tried a few
times to play this, but same result: I got bored. Oh well, maybe Lost Planet
will be better.

Halo 3
(360)
Halo3
Dude, I like this
game. However, it seems like the same game as Halo 1&2. Nothing really new,
just prettier graphics on the 360. There is one level that made me dizzy though,
the caves. Ugh. Hand me the Dramamine. Anyway, this last chapter of the Halo
trilogy goes out on a whimper for me. Lots of folks still rave about it, but to
me, it’s just a "good" game, not great like Call of Duty 4! Sorry Master
Chef..err Chief.

Oh, you guys need to go on Xbox Live. It’s awesome. I can’t believe how smooth online game has gotten. (especially when playing Call of Duty 4..wow!)

K, later dudes

Xbox Live and other crap..

It seems like I only update this blog once a month, if EVER. hehe Anyway, I’m updating now.

Biggest deal right now is that Jerald just doesn’t walk, he speed walks! Damn boy can move. I’m pretty sure he’ll be a good point guard. He moves from one point to another in a very quick manner. Bad for our backs, but sure is amazing to see.

Another thing amazing about this boy is that he plays with the DS Lite. Yup, turns it on and even knows that it has a touch screen. Yes, I will use the word ‘amazing’ once again. Funny thing is, he thinks all screens are touch screens nowDsc00178, as evidenced by this image of him trying to help me with my work. *sigh* Such a cute baby.

One more thing that’s taking up my time right now is Xbox Live. Any of you guys have a 360? Well, if you do, it’s worth it to get on Xbox Live. I was one of the few 360ites that didn’t go online. Why? Because I couldn’t find an ethernet cord long enough to reach the garage. Well, when I did, I hooked it up and now I’m hooked. It’s so much fun to go against stupid folks online. They love me too, because they get to pad their stats because of me. Oh well, I usually lay a grenade trap for them, so even when they get me, they’re still toast. haha Yes, I’m evil.

Aite, it’s FREEZING here in sunny California..time for more coffee.

Lates Mr. Gates.

Evanescence Concert

Let me start first that I didn’t like Evanescence latest album, The Open Door. I think it’s repetitive and some songs are quite dull. I do like the song "Cry to Me When You’re Sober."  With that in mind, why am I at an Evanescence concert? Well, my wife received it as a birthday gift from my sister! Plus it’s her fave band too. So, it’s all cool. AND, despite my trepidations, it was actually very enjoyable. :)

Anyway, like I said, I didn’t particularly care for the new album, but when Amy Lee and the gang came out to sing, it was clear that this band knew how to rock! Lee’s stage presence is undeniable; she was a bundle of energy, going from one end to one end, belting out their trademark songs. Even with all that running, you’d think she’ll be out of breath or out of tune, but NO, her voice was remarkable. Very powerful voice indeed. Gotta hear it to believe it. My fave part was when she sang their big hit, "Bring Me Back To Life". Even though they didn’t have the rap part, it was still very good because Lee seemed to give it her all.

All in all, if Evanescence is in your part of town, better buy a ticket. It’s worth it. (Take it from a non-fan!) :)

A high stakes card game; A fish out of water; and running for your life

If you haven’t figured it out, this will be a reviews blog. What? You guys didn’t figure it out? Shame. hahaha Yeah, I look at my blog title and it does seem vague. haha Anyway, here are my reviews:

A High Stakes Card Game..Casino Royale:

Casino
Bond is back. But, wait, it’s not Pierce Brosnan, it’s Daniel Craig. Yup, Daniel Craig. I was a wee bit skeptical that goin with a youngish actor that looks more suited for a Lord of the Rings movie than a glamour film series was gonna work out for the Bond series. However, since the movie does deal with Bonds FIRST mission, he was supposed to be young. For Bond fans though, it will be a jolt to learn that even though this is Bond’s first mission, it’s set in present day. Once you adjust your mindset though, this is one HELLA good movie! Craig does a great job as Bond; he’s tough, cool and eventually, suave. There are lots of exciting action scenes, especially the beginning chase scene, which rivals any Jackie Chan stunts. Wow.

And dang, this Bond is just brutal. Forget Pierce or Moore, Craig is Sean Connery reborn. He is very believable as a man capable of killing anyone, with or without weapons.

Anyway, the movie is so good that I just want to recommend it to folks to just go see it. Forget my plot summary. :)

A fish out of water…Borat:

Borat
This movie will either be HILARIOUS or SO STUPID to anyone watching. I found it hilarious! The movie about a Kazakstan reporter doing a report about the silliness of life in America is so dead-on that this film must have been burned in the south. haha Anyway, Sacha Cohen does a great job being "Borat" that it’s impossible to think of Borat as only make-believe. There HAS to be a Borat somewhere. hehe

This movie can be polarizing because it is so over-the-top that if you don’t like that type of comedy, you probably will not enjoy this movie. Also, there are very adult situations in this movie, so it’s not for the kiddies.

My sis also pointed out that if you have lived in the US, you’ll get most of the jokes of the movie, since it deals with making fun of life here. Although, I think people will still find it funny even without having lived in the US.

Running For Your Life….Resident Evil 4:

Res_evil4
Yes, it’s a game. I never said that all the reviews will be about movies. Did I? hehe Anyway, this is a GREAT game. The version I played is for the Gamecube, but it’s available for the PS2 as well. This game is an installment of the Resident Evil series. This time, Leon Kennedy (of R.Evil 2), is sent to find the President’s daughter, who was kidnapped in Spain. When Leon gets there, he finds a village overrun, not by zombies, but parasite infected villagers, who are out to kill strangers. Yes, you run for your life some times, but mostly you get to kill those bad guys. It’s a great action game, that mixes in the scares from time to time. And, you never know terror until, the Leatherface guy with the chainsaw goes after you. VERY scary. hehe

The graphics, story, sounds and voice-acting (except for Ashley, the President’s daughter, her voice is SO annoying.) are all very good. If you have a PS2 or Gamecube, go get this game.

All-Time Faves - Console Games

When my buddy Richard exclaimed that his favorite game of all time on the PS1 was Final Fantasy VII, it got me thinking of what I considered was my all-time faves for each of my consoles. Heck, even though the C64 was technically a computer, I still included them here. Also, I included my current faves for my current consoles. Only criteria I chose was that it was a game I actually finished! (So even though Final Fantasy X is a great game, it can’t be considered as a fave yet since I haven’t finished it.) :)

Anyway, most of the games I picked are very popular, so if you have any old consoles (or the previous gens) still working, check these titles out:

Mule2Atari Computer: M.U.L.E. - the best EDUCATIONAL game I’ve ever played.
Taught me about supply and demand. And the fact that moms plays games
too. =) Yeah, Mom used to play this with us. She sometimes won. hehe (She killed us on Frogger though.)
I read that M.U.L.E. was goin to be remade for the internet, but the creator died before she finished the program.
Honorable mention: Frogger

Hardball_03
C64 - Hardball - This was the game that got my brother Jerome and I hooked on America’s pasttime. Before this game, we used to just play basketball. After getting hooked on Hardball, we actually got to the baseball field to hit! (we weren’t good at the beginning, but we got the hang of it.)  Jerome and I still speak of Hardball with reverence.(even
though its graphics is SO outdated now.) :) Trivia: The game is immortalized in the movie classic, "Princess Bride."
Honorable mention: Archon, Super Zaxxon

Superstar_ice_hockey_02
Amiga Computer - It
has to be Superstar Ice Hockey. Jerome
and I played this game as teammates, him the high-scoring center and me as the highest scored-upon goalie.  We played numerous seasons before we finally won the Stanley Cup. We
stared at that damn trophy for minutes.

Secret_of_monkey_island_24
Amiga Computer - I HAVE to add Secrets of Monkey Island as one of my faves. Even though the recent one for the PS2 wasn’t as good, the first few titles of this series was what got me hooked to point-and-click games. It was grand game with very difficult puzzles, splashed with lots of humor. Very entertaining indeed.
Honorable mention: TV Sports Football

Mgsp3_thumb
PlayStation1 - Toss up between
Resident Evil 2 and Metal Gear Solid, but I’ll lean more on Metal Gear
Solid
. Why? It was the game that made me buy the Analog controller with
the rumble feature that Sony said you needed for Metal Gear! And yes,
they were right! (Which is why it’s weird that the PS3 doesn’t have
rumble anymore. Lame.) Also, the game is like a suspense/action movie that Vin Diesel can only dream of making. hehe The PS2 sequel was lame though.
Honorable mention: Tekken 3, Resident Evil1.

Soulcalibur
Dreamcast
- Soul Calibur. Still one of the best-looking and best time to be had on
the Dreamcast. It was visually stunning with its weapons’ trails and great motion-captures. Plus, it was easy to pick up and go one on one with friends. It was hard to believe this was a launch game.
Honorable mention: Resident Evil Veronica, Rayman, NFL2K.

Silenthill3_051203_12_thumb
PS2 - Fave of all time, for now, Silent
Hill 3
. The graphics and music scared Carie and me when I played it
here. Very disturbing game. (well, when I finished it here in PI..couldn’t finish it in US playing alone…got
scared.) haha Still, it was worth finishing the game, even though it still caused some nightmares. hehe I wonder if the movie is any good?
Honorable mention: Tekken Tag, NHL 2002

Res_evil0
Gamecube - Resident Evil Zero. Dang. The graphics
they had for this game me forget that I was playing the "inferior"
console. Heck, even when the cutscenes ended, I was still standing
around waiting for more; in fact, it was my turn already! hehe Even though Resident Evil 4 will probably replace this game as my all-time fave for the Gamecube, trust me, it kicks arse, I can’t list it because I haven’t finished it yet. :) (same with Zelda;Windwaker) hehe
Honorable mention: Legend of Zelda, Windwaker.

Halo_e3_6_thumb
Xbox: Dang it. I can’t list one
favorite because I’ve played so many good games on this favorite
console of mine. Yes, it’s my favorite; sue me. But, it was the only
console that had in-game Dolby surround and true HD graphics; not the
fake Dolby surround for PS2 and pro-logic for Gamecube. But, the game
that had the most impact on me for Xbox, and why I didn’t sell it when
I first got it, has to take the honor of being the best. Yup, you
guessed it: HALO. Even with the huge controllers of Xbox past, the the game was a joy to play. This game is the reason why one should own an Xbox.
Honorable mention: Brothers in Arms, Black, Halo 2, MVP Baseball 2005, Madden 06, Beyond Good and Evil

There you have it. My current list of all-time faves. I just know I’ll have changes to this list in the future. :D I’ll probably do an all-time faves list of PC games soon. :D

Intellectual Snobs

I posted this on my MySpace blog, but decided to post it here too since, well, I’m bored. hahaha Plus, I haven’t posted anything here for a while. (Posting a link to MySpace is not a post.) :D

=============================================

Ugh. One thing that irks me is an intellectual snob. They think they’re the smartest folks in the world and they LOVE shoving your face with their "intelligence."

I was reading a post on my friend’s blog and this one person that replied to him kept referring to others as "naive". He was implying that he was in the right and the other guy is wrong, because basically, because the other person didn’t share the same opinion as he does.

Well, let me break it to you Mr. Smarts, everyone is entitled to their opinion. Just because you read so many books, doesn’t mean you’re an intellectual; it just means you read many books! Kudos to you for being patient enough to read stuff; Me, I like my brain-cell robbing TV. (But, hey, I’m no intellectual.)

Truth is, in my very humble opinion, intellectuals that quote books or professors, to express their OWN opinions, aren’t intellectuals at all. In fact, I might say you’re not enlightened at all. True philosophers and intellectuals, they develop theories on their owns. Each have their "Eureka!" moments that help shape the thinking of generations to come. What most intellectual snobs does is just regurgitate information that they read and try to intimidate others into their line of thinking. That, my friend, is not very enlightened. Plus, in your post, you used the word "shear" when you meant to use "sheer." Yup, I had a laugh with that one. OK, I’m childish. Sue me.

So, for you intellectual snobs out there. Remember, you might know more stuff than me, but remember this; I don’t care. hahaha

I have to apologize. I’m lazy. Lazy posting blog updates. I’m getting lazy posting stuff here in Friendster coz I’m on dial-up. Sometimes it takes too long to load the update screen. Anyway, I do post some entries in MySpace.com:

Category 4 Storm!

Yup, you read that right! A category 4 storm passed through the Philippines and, you guessed it, hit us straight on! If you read the news, you’ll see that Metro Manila was hit hard and lots of buildings were affected. Heck, even my house was affected. The skylight roof that I have in my house, I thought was gonna fly off. One of the screws that holds it down came off and the 140kph winds (umm..100mph, I think) was threatening to take the roof with it. Needless to say, there were some anxious moments for the household if we needed to start wearing raincoats inside the house. hehe Thankfully, the roof held and I just have to have it fixed today, so that the next Cat 4 won’t take my roof away.

The only other damage we had in our house was just my No Parking signs coming off. (Some super glue and it’ll be back up.)

Flood Most work I had to do was just to keep the water from coming in the house. It was seeping through the cracks of the doors and it was flooding my floors! I was mopping almost all day! :( Oh, to top it off, electricity was down all day. We only got power back around 6pm. (perfect timing for dinner!) hehe

Throughout it all, Jerald was a trooper. He barely noticed all the wind noises and the loud banging of the roof. I think he was happy because he got to wear his sweat pants! haha Plus, his uncle Seth was here, seeking shelter from the storm, to keep him company. For Jerald, this wasn’t a cat 4 storm, it was just a cold day in September. :) Discuss_funny

Anyway, if you wish to view more Jerald pics, feel free to visit my Yahoo Photos page: http://photos.yahoo.com/jgwebdude429
